Each MCG coaching plan includes the development of clear objectives and goals for the coaching process tied to measurable business results. The phases of a typical plan are as follows:
Phase 1 – Identify developmental objectives and goals for the person(s) to be coached. This involves creating an overall strategic direction and game plan beginning with a quick assessment of the current situation, key stakeholders, organizational culture and key desired outcomes.
Phase 2 – Discuss and gain agreement on these objectives and goals with the client so that expectations are clear and defined. Create buy-in for the executive coaching process through commitment and dedication to the desired outcome. Create a game plan that focuses on high leverage opportunities and a personalized action plan for long-term behavior change and sustainability.
Phase 3 – Enlist key stakeholders in the development process, establish changes you are working on and what you need from them.
Phase 4 – Participate in on- going coaching sessions, live and by phone, focusing on high-impact issues. Email between scheduled sessions so the executive/manager is fully supported and guided in making the desired changes.
Phase 5 – Implement the required action and changed behavior so that the desired results are achieved. Monitor and evaluate progress and adjust as needed. Provide the necessary support through consistent follow-up so that progress is made, behavior is changed, skills are developed, and results are attained. Finally, evaluate the program. |
